FOLLOWING THE STAR OF BALTHAZAR
Balthazar is a very evocative name: it is the 12-litre bottle of Champagne, but it is also one of the Magi, the three Wise Men who brought Christ their gifts following a comet. The full name of the restaurant, however, is Balthazar Experience, because, however enticing, Balthazar is more than a place where you can enjoy exquisite Italian food. Balthazar is first of all an experience, which begins on its doorstep with the welcoming décor that brings you in the warm and cozy atmosphere of the restaurant, with its perfumes, its leather sofas, its marble tables, the beautiful piano and our talented pianist, Giuseppe Fiorenza, always present from Thursday to Monday and on special evenings. The name Balthazar was born out of magic when the works for the opening of the restaurant had just begun. Balthazar was growing under the eyes of their creators and of those who worked there: architect, technicians, artists, cooks and sommeliers.
DRINKING
Balthazar is a Dom Pérignon Flagship Store and hosts in its cellar the rarest of vintages, something very few restaurants can boast. Dom Pérignon Champagne is classified in plenitude. Plenitude 1 is the release normally found on the market, which – as of 2020 – is from the 2010 vintage. Then there is Plenitude 2, with bottles more than twenty years old, and finally Plenitude 3, with the rarest bottles, those with the gold label. At Balthazar we store really rare ones, like those from 1970, 1971 or 1973 vintages. Precious bottles you won’t find on the market, which we reserve as a plus for special customers aspiring to drink something unique. The white and red wine list is equally sought after.
THE DOM PÉRIGNON ROOM
This is a room with a life of its own. Its hand-painted walls are conceived to give you the impression of being surrounded by a forest. Its large main table, a smaller side table, armchairs and a bar cabinet are all you will need. Hosting a maximum of 20 people, this is the special place for a special occasion, like a memorable dinner with your dearest friends or your partner, something to be enjoyed in the utmost privacy as if you were at home.
